PS044 I am from a junky swing set And a little turtle sandbox, When there was a cooler one next door. I am from animal lovers With two cats and little fish. I am from Cinderella and Pippi Longstocking And lemonade stands and daycare. I am from Jell-O, Just Raspberry, With Gamy’s dumplings on the side. I am from our little basement with my family And Tom Petty records playing continuously. I am from my big bunny from an egg hunt, From my Giga Pets and my favorite ballet shoes. I am from the haunted houses across the street From the hiking at Smuddy Bear, and all our forts in our trees. I am from dandelions at Mother’s Day, From playing school and eating bread and butter. I am from falling off my bike in kindergarten Having the neighbor lady walk me home And not riding for a week I am from books filled with jealousy and murder But from a life of goodness and love. I am from my friends and my life And my family who started me.
